Sirolimus (Sirolimus), Immunosuppressant, 1 mg, 6 tabs, (Zydus)
An immunosuppressant used to prevent organ rejection after transplantation and to treat certain immune system disorders. This drug blocks certain molecules that play a key role in the immune system's response, thereby reducing the risk of rejection of transplanted organs.
Indications for use:
1. Prevention of transplanted organ rejection: After kidney transplantation: Sirolimus is used to prevent kidney transplant rejection, in combination with other immunosuppressants. After liver transplantation: The drug can be used to prevent liver rejection, if the doctor's instructions are followed.
2. Treatment of diseases with abnormal cell growth: Treatment of dilated vascular neoplasms (angiomyolipoma) in patients with Tuberous Sclerosis Syndrome. Treatment of lymphangioleiomyomatosis, a rare disease characterized by the growth of smooth muscle cells in the lungs.
3. Other indications: In some cases, Sirolimus is used to treat other immunologically conditioned diseases that require suppression of the immune system.
What makes Sirolimus unique:
Sirolimus has a unique mechanism of action - it suppresses the activity of T-lymphocytes, which are important immune system cells involved in the rejection of transplanted organs. This allows to significantly reduce the risk of rejection without strong suppression of the entire immune system, which reduces the likelihood of infectious diseases. The drug is also effective in rare diseases such as angiomyolipomas and lymphangioleiomyomatosis, due to its ability to block certain cell growth pathways.
Contraindications:
1. Hypersensitivity to siralimus or other components of the drug.
2. Pregnancy and lactation: Sirolimus is not recommended for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
3. Severe liver failure: The drug should be used with caution in case of liver dysfunction.
4. Infections: In case of active infections, the use of Sirolimus is contraindicated, as it weakens the immune system.
5. Renal failure (especially in severe forms) - the use of the drug is possible only under strict medical supervision.
Composition:
Sirolius 1 mg, lactose monohydrate.
Dosage:
1. To prevent transplant rejection: Initial dose: 6 mg on the first day (single dose). Maintenance dose: 2-4 mg per day, depending on the body's response and doctor's recommendations.
2. For the treatment of angiomyolipomas and other diseases: Dosage and regimen depend on the clinical situation and individual characteristics of the patient. It is used in the form of oral tablets.
Important: Before starting to use Sirolimus, you must undergo a complete medical examination. The drug should be used only under strict medical supervision, especially during the period of dosage adaptation and monitoring of the patient's condition.
Sirolimus is effective in preventing transplant rejection, but requires regular tests and monitoring of kidney function, liver function and the level of the drug in the blood.
